EXCLUSIVE: GERALD ANDERSON UP-CLOSE IN BAGUIO

During its exclusive coverage of the three-day taping of My Girl in Baguio, ABS-CBN.com caught up with Gerald Anderson during a break in the July 9 afternoon shoot. Gerald is known to all My Girl fanatics as Julian, a company president who hires a girl to pose as his missing cousin. The young actor revealed that his role in the Koreanovela adaptation has helped him hone his acting talent. “It’s a very complicated role. Aaminin ko I had a really hard time sa beginning, but now I’m glad they gave me this role. Ang dami kong natutunan.”

My Girl also gave Gerald the opportunity to play a character far different from his past teenybopper roles. The 19-year-old actor said that he drew inspiration from a real-life big boss whom he truly admires. “I just think of Gabby Lopez (Chairman and CEO of ABS-CBN). Kapag nasa isang room siya, you’ll know he’s there kahit hindi mo pa siya nakikita. Ganun ka strong yung presence niya. So I try to make my presence as Julian as strong as that,” he shares.

Of the My Girl shoot in Baguio, Gerald was kept busy shooting close to a hundred sequences, a majority of which was done without his usual onscreen partner Kim Chiu. The General Santos City cutie, however, didn’t mind being away from his Cebuana ka-love team for a while. Gerald is now more secure with his special relationship with Kim, which has gotten stronger after spending most of their time together on the My Girl set. “Mabait siya (Kim) sa akin. She cares for me at alam kong lagi siyang nandiyan para sa akin. Siya rin yung first ka-love team ko kaya special siya sa akin,” Gerald describes Kim. When asked if he is ready to court Kim, Gerald answers, “Dahil 18 na siya baka pwede na (laughs). Ready naman ako ligawan siya. Sa two years naming pagsasama, every day seven days a week, mas naging close kami.”
